Am sure many of you have noticed the inconsistency of late when it comes to the posting around here. I am afraid that I have to admit that it isn't really anyone's fault more than my own. A constant comment, that am sure you will recall if you've read a few of the articles we've written, is that real life always comes before second life. In my case I've had a lot of changes in my real life of late, which has cut down on the amount of time that I have available to spend in second life. Which has been making keeping up with what is going on in world a bit difficult.
That isn't an excuse for leaving so much unsaid here on these pages. It isn't an excuse at all. But it is the reality of things where I am currently. Which leaves me a few options. I can either look for some new willing writers, or I've even thought about closing the blog.
But I don't want to do that. Everyone has spent so much time on this, and I appreciate everything everyone has done as we've worked together on the content here. So I've decided that I'm going to start looking for some writers. If you're interested in writing for the blog, just contact me by note in second life.
I'm looking for a variety of content types. As you know, we cover a little bit of everything here, and that means anything more or less goes, as long as the general theme is still adhered to. (What that is these days I'm a little unsure of.)
Anyhow. I'm looking for people willing to do the following types of content.
~ Board Runs
~Style Cards
~Creative Writing
~Book Reviews
~Fashion/Content Reviews (Second Life)
~Opinion Pieces
If you think you have what it takes to be a Sass Pack Writer, please do contact me. I greatly appreciate it.
Yours kindly,
Tiamet

Happy New Year & Many Safe Returns
Second Life has been a myriad of ups and downs this past year. We've seen places and people we love, come and go, as well as change. We've come to know more about each other and various topics. That is the nature of Second Life. It is a community and world that is always in flux. I want to thank you all for making this past year so amazing. I am looking forward to an even more amazing and fun filled New Year. There are so many events and things I will remember from this year, some of which I hope repeat themselves in the future.
I want to thank Lola and Soka for their support and encouragement, as well as their written work. I am truly blessed to have you as friends, and chosen sisters. Cuddles and Harlow, I want to thank you both for the work you're putting in with Sass Swarm, it's appreciated more than you realize. Reena, Nykkee, Sophia- thank you so much for helping us to be who and what we are.
Sass Lions! You know who you are. Just remember that while you may not see it, you have been part of this process as well. You will continue to be.
I want to thank our various contributors. Your images and written pieces throughout the year have helped to shape who and what we are.

Holiday Wishes
Dear Blog Readers,
It seems hard to believe that 2012 is really drawing to an end - and, despite oodles of information to the contrary, the world is still ticking on and we didn't all end. In the hustle and bustle of work, family, and holidays, it's nice to sit back some and reflect.
My mind spins to realize that, a mere twelve months ago, very few of us had even met. It wasn't until 8 months ago I met the first of what would spawn the Sass Pack, and months later before the concept of Sass really solidified. Since then, three groups related to Sass have spawned, we've lived on four different sims, and we've become fixtures of so many places that it is hard to even contemplate, let alone numerate. Moreover, between the Pride and the Lions, I have met some of the best people I will ever know in my entire life. Despite protestations to the contrary, it is quite possible to love from a distance, and to love deeply those whose true faces you don't see, because I know what is there inside. Laureena, Lola, Sangrelle, Tiamet... you have become my friends, my sisters, and fixtures of my heart. And no, I'm not going to call out everyone that has found a way past my numerous barricades, or this post would become much too long to read. Suffice it to say, my heart, though tenderized, is the fuller for the time spent in sl and the people I have met there.
Some may be tempted to gloss over the bad and say how wonderful 2012 was. I'm not about to dish that kind of bullshit at you, readers. Like every year, parts of 2012 left me questioning my sanity and wondering if I could pull through. Choices were made, good and bad, and I have grown as a person because of it.
But what I do know is how thankful I am to know each and every one of our regular readers, how touched I am for new readers who have actually read this far, and just in general how all of you have changed my life. So I want to hope you all look back and see how others have enriched your lives - no remembering the bad! That can stay in the past - and look forward to 2013 with hopes, dreams, friendships, and love.
From all of us here in the Sass Pack, I wish you the happiest of holidays, a very merry New Year (with the kisses - if not more - for those you most hope for ;) ), and let you know we will see you in the new year, back and roaring as loud as ever.
With Love,
Soka

Provoking Thought About Membership
So a long while ago I read this poem and I thought that maybe some of you would appreciate the piece the same way that I do. It is a really strongly written piece to think about. It offers a number of points to consider when it comes to being part of a group. Remember we are all part of something. As to what part we get to play? That is up to us.
Are You An Active Member?
Are you an active member,
the kind that would be missed,
or are you just contented
that your name is on the list?
the kind that would be missed,
or are you just contented
that your name is on the list?
Do you attend
the meetings and mingle
with the flock,
or do you meet in private
and criticize and knock?
the meetings and mingle
with the flock,
or do you meet in private
and criticize and knock?
Do you take an active part
to help the work along,
or are you satisfied to be the
kind who just belongs?
to help the work along,
or are you satisfied to be the
kind who just belongs?
Do you work on committees,
to this there is no trick,
or leave the work to
just a few and talk
about the clique?
to this there is no trick,
or leave the work to
just a few and talk
about the clique?
So come to the local meetings often,
and help with hand and heart.
and help with hand and heart.
Don't be just a member,
but take an active part.
but take an active part.
Think this over folks,
you know what is
right or wrong.
Are you just a member…
or do you really belong?
or do you really belong?

Sass Swarm
In Second Life there are groups for just about everything and anything we could be interested in. But we have come to notice that even some of those groups, get uppity when they're used for what they're meant for. So with that in mind, we would like to introduce you to a fairly new group in sl, the Sass Swarm.
What is the Sass Swarm? Well it's a place to call those fabulous silks you saw on a midnight mania board, or share some information about a to die for sale. even let us know about events you may be participating in. Share your opinions, make friends, and just stick together as a group. This group is not affiliated with any one sim, and it is not intended to replace another group instead our point is to provide a friendly environment for all.
We know that there are a lot of like minded individuals out there who read our blog, and may be interested in participating in some of these activities that we mention. Scavenger hunts (as an example) are much more fun in groups, and go much faster that way than when alone. Maybe you're learning to build and need advice on a project, or perhaps you need someone to model an outfit and give opinions. This group is for you.
One of the key elements to enjoying second life is being part of a network, and knowing what's going on. Being a Sassy Honey is one way to do that. So look us up. We aren't sexist either! We call male boards too!

Some Village Footage
If you have been to the village enough, you'll note in the first half of the footage that it's more or less the village as it was. The second half shows some of the changes that have been put in on this corner of the sim. Admittedly the footage may not be as crisp as you see Second Life, but you can kind of see it the way I do.
It is most definitely good to be home again.

Digital Relationships and Truth
We have a lot of run ins with people from all over the world while we explore Second Life. Heck the same can be said for just about any video game. People sometimes, lie to others in order to gain something. What they're trying to get, is not always clear. We have recently learned that we were told something that was untrue. Not only were we told this, but we shared this with all of you. Because we believed the source would not give us false information.
But it seems that is not true. In this case, it is a bit of a blessing to find out that someone we love dearly is going to be back with us. But it's reopening the wound of believing they were gone. And it makes us question who it is that we are able to trust. We have found out that, much to our shock and surprise, Sangrelle is very much still alive. It's surreal, and feels like something out of a movie or soap opera. When someone is reported to have passed on, you generally don't expect to see them again. Making it a bit of a shock for those who felt the loss.
The truth is a huge component when it comes to being able to trust someone. Relationships, as I've pointed out in the past, are built on many things. But honesty is one of the most important things that a relationship is built on.
That all being said I want to ask you to do something. When you think about lying to someone, please think very hard about it. Because while you may think it can't hurt anyone, sometimes they will become more than what you intended. Death is not something to toy with, and heartstrings are not to be played with like a harp. People should always be treated with the same decency and courtesy that you would expect them to treat you.

Sass Pride
You could say, in a way, I started the sassy label. I had a predator, now a dear friend, compliment another about me on my second day in the village, after the first time I was successfully capped: he said I had sass, and he liked it, and I liked the sound of it. I had never considered myself sassy before, but the idea had merit. After a while, we all started to realize like drew to like, and that each of the four of us had some traits in common.
For one thing, we have pride. We don’t just bend our necks to everyone because they want us to, and we never stood around and let people shoot us. We were there to run, and to roleplay, and if someone wanted the second, they were going to have to do the first. We are each articulate women who are proud of our abilities, and I am not ashamed to say we are all fairly strong roleplayers, even if our manner differs from one another. We hold our own in conversations (and often had to - the fish jokes we mermaids had to put up with were sometimes incredible!), and we are not afraid to speak our minds, to prey or to predator.
Moreover, we complimented each other. You could say Sangrelle was our wise elder, for she had been around CaRP longer than the rest of us, possibly combined. She was fiercely protective, and her spirit still infuses our group today. For a long time, I was the ringleader, leading the charge to Lion Hill and starting our impromptu dance parties, a role I have since relinquished. Tiamet is the creative, idea girl; her sparkling energy drives the group along, taking us to places I doubt any of us ever dreamed of. And dear Reena is our baby Sass, the fun bubble that is both our reality check and our green light. Together, we were stronger than we ever were apart, and you would be surprised at the way we defend and bolster each other, even to the point of being willing to swap as captives, if a predator would let us, if one of us got in over their head, or running as a pack to take arrows for each other.
What exactly is Sass? Sass is a concept of worth, of bonding, and of knowing who and what we are. Yes, we may be submissive, though levels and type of submissive vary from one of us to the other. But, at the same time, we don’t need or want to be coddled or fully controlled. The concept best used to describe a Sass girl is one of a lioness: we have our pack, our family, which we are devoted to… but we also do our hunting alone. Moreover, we each seek our lion, our dominate, one who knows of our strength and pride, and is content to lie still and lets us do what we do best… but is equally able to get us by the scruff and pin us down when we need it (or, in some cases, desire it), and to come roaring to our defense if something comes in over our heads. I know I am not the only one who has been called a "false sub," as I refuse to call every man who walks before me Master or Sir, and I am known to give a snappy comeback or a well-turned adult jest when such is due. That doesn't mean I am not submissive: it just means that I know my own strength and worth, and I know that such titles are for those who deserve them from my lips, and cowering is no way to live. A true lion for a Sass Pack member is one who is also a true dom, who knows that role doesn’t mean dominion, but understand it is to dominate… and that a sub is in the role she is because she wants to be, not by force, and that the relationship works both ways. She serves and submits because she wants to please her lion, and he bolsters her in the few places her lioness strength most needs it, but also takes pride in the woman she is.
Tiamet, early on, made those “elders” of the pack a tattoo to show the way in which we are lionesses, a beautiful lion for the back of our calves. It is based off that same explanation for what Sass is. For any of the members who don’t have it or would like a new copy, I strongly urge them to let her know. For those who want to be Sass… we will see you, if you show us that you are Sassy. We are not rude, we are not belligerent, but we are strong and proud of who and what we are, be that slave or sub or just woman, and we know how to find that bond, those traits, in those we see around us. Our numbers fluctuate, just as any true group of lionesses - sometimes with sad losses, sometimes with those who need to show their freedom, how they come and go as they please, and often with new and welcome additions to our Pack.
Sass Pack is a sisterhood, and one I am proud to have seen grow so much. Lola (l0lafinzi) has rather stepped into Sangrelle’s spot, but is also an exotic imp with stunning ideas. Nykkee is our lone huntress, coming to the pack when she wants to, or when needed, but also the shadow to the side - a true example of Sass nature. And Sophia (SophiaRena) is our quiet, but fierce, lioness, roaring to the side of any of the Pack who may need her. Some of our pack have found their lions, and contentedly roam the plains set before us under their gaze, returning to their side by our will and their right. Some of us still range, and that’s fine, too, for Sass encompasses all types. But, forever, we will have each other, and that is the glue that helps to bind us.

Still Missing The Village
It's been a little over a month now. Many of us have been trying to find a location to call home. But none of us are having an easy time of it. Sure, there's some people who are arguing 'it's just a game, it shouldn't be bothering me so much' but they're wrong. Why?
Well, some of us invested a lot of time getting to know the lay of the land (and yes you can take that both ways if you want). We worked at getting to know people, and came to feel as though the sim was our home. Which if you think about it, considering the amount of time many of us spent there it really was. Home is not only where you hang your coat and hat, it's where your heart feels fullest. Many of us felt that way there.
The sense of community was awesome. Maybe more so for us prey than for the preds. But I know I miss the fun banter and joking that used to happen in prey chat. There never really is anything that's as much fun as picking on the guards in prey chat. I mean really? Who didn't love poking at the guys in the girl infested waters of chat?
In any case at this moment in time, I'm still looking for a place that still has the same kind of heart and sense of community. It isn't really as easy as some may have thought it would be. But maybe I'm spoiled. Maybe I just want too much. Or maybe... just maybe, I'm not going to find a place like The Village again.
But... there is one thing....we will always have the memories that we made on the sim. The friendships (some of them) aren't going anywhere. And I do know... that on the grid, there are still pods of us hoping and praying for a miracle.
not quite home yet,
Tiamet

some thoughts on rp
Role playing is one of the important factors when it comes to participation in second life. You're someone you're not, and can be nearly anything that you imagine. So it would go to pot if you didn't try to script out your character as a separate entity of yourself.
How do you create a character? As we've looked at in the past, you create a unique appearance. You want to have a look that people will know is you. They will become accustomed to you looking a certain way, physically if not fashionably. This is your character's base.
Why is your look your base? What you look like and what you wear is what gives you your basic items to write about. If you do not carry a dagger, for example, how can you claim to fight with one? If you're not wearing a dress, how can you get tangled in it? These are simply things to think about. Of course it is possible to have pockets, bu t you need to keep their contents somewhat realistic.
The other things that you're going to want to think about when working on establishing your character is repeat actions. These actions are things that people will recognize and come to expect from your character. Does your character chew her lip while he watches the fire? Does she twist her hair in her fingers as she thinks? Does she have a sweet or sour disposition?
It's all things to think about. It can help make you a more appealing rp partner, as it will show people that there is more depth to you than just being a digital barbie doll. You want your character to have aspirations and goals. These are what help you create a point of interest for yourself.
When I first re-arrived in the village my character could be found in the SZ now and then nibbling on flowers. She progressed to eating a snack we have since come to call "cricket crunchies", and I even got them mermaid approved through rp. She also has a tendency to share fruit, which she has accessories displaying, to other characters. When she doesn't have them equipped, I improvise ways to get access to things. Many folk see me in SZ frequently, so it should come as no surprise that I would hide fruit and things behind the cushions there.
Ok, well that's enough babbling out of me. But just so you can see what I mean am including a picture and a bit of one sided rp. When starting an interaction, sometimes it can seem like you're playing by yourself, but don't be afraid to play. Having fun is the key element to enjoying your time. Here ya go.
Tiamet swims around the cavern, her tail flipping as she circles a pillar deciding that for a moment she can rest. Her form sinks slightly her elbows coming to rest on the top of the pillar as her eyes stare at her surroundings lazily, a slightly bored expression on her face. The slight movement of the water causes her hair to sway around her face, the crown resting on top of it keeping most of it in place. She watches the bubbles escaping the plants, and playfully tries to let a bubble escape from her own mouth, and with a bit of effort she manages one pathetic bubble which slowly disappears up into the caverns darkness above.
Play like the rules never matter. ~ Tiamet ~

Avatar Appearance
Avatar appearance is a very important concept when it comes to second life. There are many different styles that we have access to, that many of us could never dream of having in reality. Currently, I'm going to be referencing fashion and appearance as it is to be seen in The Village. This is applicable to things outside as well, But I see no reason to ramble on about jeans and sneakers if we're not going to be wearing them.
What items are used to make up your avatar appearance?
~Shape
~Skin
~Hair
~Clothes
One of the first things an avatar is going to have is it's shape. What are you going to look like? Do you have an hourglass figure? Are you short and busty? Do you have a delectable pear-like appearance? Do you want to mimic a rl look, or be a fantastical being? Are you tall and thin? Are you masculine? Are you feminine? Do you make people wonder what you are?
Your shape is one of the first things someone is going to see when you show up on a sim. More often than not it can take a few seconds for your skin and clothes to catch up, leaving you that wonderful sl unrezzed grey color many of us know so well. But a shape will usually hold up even if other things do not. (Unless of course you end up ruthed, but that's a blog topic for another day).
The next thing most people will look at closely is going to be your skin. Are you wearing one of the standard noob skins? Or have you at least managed to find a skin that is going to enable you to have tone? There is nothing wrong with a starter skin, but it is highly advised to find a skin that expresses something about yourself. Your skin should be something that you find appealing to look at.
If you're not sure what kind of skin you'd be interested in start paying attention to the avatars around you. If there's a look someone has that interests you don't be afraid to ask them about it. Many people find it flattering when someone asks them about their avatar build.
Hair is a touchy subject. With the influx of mesh hair available in sl, many people are moving towards it. But I would like to remind you that mesh hair doesn't flow like the flexi hair, and not all viewers can see mesh. Which equates to many bald men and women wandering around some sims. It is very frustrating to some players when someone asks why they're bald. They're not (usually) it's just mesh being uncooperative. Some viewers have issues with mesh , because it requires a higher amount of resource usage than the computer can offer.
I like the flexi hair, that has a bounce to it when an avatar moves, personally. But everyone is allowed their own opinions. There are many different shops in sl in which to find hair, so I recommend starting your search on the marketplace, as that's an assured way to get a good viewing of different styles. Then you can check many of the stores out inside sl itself. Try a few different styles until you find something that really feels right to you.
Clothes are going to be a recurring topic here but here's what you wanna keep in mind. Clothes are made by a lot of different people with various ideas on what is considered quality. What I like in clothes is flow and detailing. So when you pick something to wear, think about how it looks, and how it will look on your avatar. You, after all, are most likely not the same shape as the model.
Keep in mind also, what would your character be able to do with the outfit. How does it flows? can she hide herself behind one of the draping silks? Or is it so short she will fidget trying to keep it pulled down to cover her bottom? Is there a dagger that he can use to cut rope? Or is it regal and clearly made to give the idea of wealth? Think about your character and how you intend to present them and make sure to keep that in mind when you pick your outfit. The wrong outfit can always clash with a personality and create a bump in your believability.
Remember! The person who is going to be spending the most time with your avatar is YOU! What does this mean? This means that regardless what any other player in SL may say to you, the opinion that matters at the end of the day is your own.

Spotlights
So, spotlighting community members would be a lot easier if they're willing to volunteer information. So today's post is going to include a list of questions for anyone interested in having themselves spotlighted on the blog. Consider it you're own 15 minutes of SL fame.
SL Name:
Favorite clothing store:
Favorite accessory:
Favorite skin maker:
What kind of hair do you wear?:
Recommended song for running:
Who made your bow (if you use one):
What kind of AO do you use?:
Favorite quote:
Tell us about your character's background in the village:
Do you have a sl goal?
Mind you these are just recommended questions. You can choose to answer them in full informative format. Or you are welcome to be as simply direct as possible. What I would like you to include though is a picture of your avatar to be posted with your profile. If at all possible, please include a style card like listing for what you're wearing in the image if at all possible (list of the name of the outfit and maker, hair and skin maker, shape etc.) because you never know who's going to get a look at you and be interested in more information about your look. (Or YOU ^_~)
This information can either be dropped as a nc in sl to Tiamet Resident or l0lafinzi Resident, or emailed to thesasspack (at) gmail (dot) com. (you should replace the words with the appropriate symbols ^_~) She'll make sure that the information is formatted and cued up to be presented to your waiting public.
Safe and happy runnings! ~ Tiamet~

The ending of an Era
With that in mind I'd like to ask you, our brethren, our sisters, to share your memories with us. We may not be able to stay, we can't pry open a clam that's closing for the last time. But we can reminisce and share our thoughts. Funny instances, or wonderful role play experiences, we're open to your input.
The only thing that I ask is that if you send us RP notes, check and make sure it's alright with the person that you were playing with. This makes sure that when and if the tid bit is posted, they aren't surprised to see their writing bared and exposed for others to see. I know it can be a bit shocking and embarrassing if it happens without warning.
If we could fight to keep the sim alive, I know that there are those that would bear arms to do so. There are some of us that only have our words to offer, they're the only weapons we have. Don't let this go unquestioned. Don't let it go without a response. We are here, we are listening, and we want to know what you have on your minds.
I'm terrified. I don't think I have anywhere in SL to consider home right now, the Village was the closest thing to a Home I had left. I've made the most amazing friends here, and I don't want to lose them. We will figure out a way to stay in contact am sure, but this can't be the end. Things don't simply end without creating an opening for folk to escape into. I just don't see the enterance to that wonderful rabbit hole right now... this Alice has no Wonderland to go to.
Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. It may be a line from a Disney movie, but it exemplifies the feeling I've often felt while at the Village. So regardless where we end up, am sure we will remember the wonderful times that we've all shared. Thank you all so much, for some of the best times I've ever had in SL.
Waiting for a Miracle . ~Tiamet~
Camp rock 2 : the final jam - Can't Back Down
"We got a situation that we can't ignore
'Cause ignorance is not bliss
We know not to take this, no
With every big decision
comes an equally important share of the risk
We gotta take this on
We can't back down
There's too much at stake
This is serious
Don't walk away
We can't pretend
It's not happening
In our own backyard
Our own home plate
We've been called out
Do you hear your name?
I'm not confused
Let's win this thing
We can't back down
There's too much at stake
Don't walk away
Don't walk away"

Open Hunt Tonight!
Good Luck during Open hunt girlies! Have fun guys and remember that it's just once every two weeks us girls get to prey on you (and only if you're willing to let us try.) Remember it's from 6:30 pm slt - 6:30 am slt, and the girls are allowed to hunt!
Make sure to adjust your green titler appropriately to indicate whether you are pred or pey, and whether you are prey for male or female only, if you're prey for only one gender. It is very important to do this as it makes sure people know who and what they can hunt. ^_~
Oh and if anyone has a chance, can someone keep a list of who is prey? I'd love to interview them about it later. ^_~
Ricky Martin : The Best Thing About Me Is You
DJ Schmolli : Cruelly Good Summer Feeling
The All American Rejects : Move Along
Me First And The Gimme Gimmes : Jolene
My Pet Dragon : Moonshine
Kate Bush : The Red Shoes
Taylor Swift : You Belong With Me
Tim McGraw : Indian Outlaw
Tori Amos : Happy Phantom Girl In Town
Humpty Dumpster : If It's Too Loud, You're Too Old
Hicksville Bombers : The Prettiest
Elastica : Vaseline
HAPPY HUNTING! ~ Tiamet~

Tongue In Cheek Stuff
We all know that all village prey have a huge amount of SASS in one way or another...that's what makes us so damn irresistible! A good playful sense of humour is always present in the village...sometimes the quick witted jokes that pass between the pred & prey during social times has me in stitches...I myself have a very odd sense of humour, i think its part of being from the UK...some get me, some don't...but THIS post really made me laugh that i fell across in PoniEE's profile...she was kind enough to allow us to blog it & share with you guys, her take on dealing with preds! Enjoy ;)
(This is meant to be a JOKE, funny haha)
Hot to avoid a Predator:
1. Don't wear an AO, nobody wants a noob.
2. Wear something on your face so they cant see how good looking you really are.
3. Carry sharp objects, it means you are too dangerous for them.
4. Don't wear a cape of any kind, we are trying to hide your awesomeness, not make it shine like a rainbow.
5. Play dead often. Predators only want Fresh ass.
6. Respond to his RP with song lyrics or random facts, They don't like when you are smarter than they are.
7. Learn how to use your rock, and use it well. Men hate when you are a better aim then them.
8. Give them a time frame to capture you, if they can't do it in that amount of time ask them if they would rather submit to you.
9. Capture and Bind them first. Take them somewhere public and laugh hysterically at them and run away.
10. If any of these don't work for you, hang out with Me and learn these tricks first hand.

Silky Prey
This is my first fashion post and i want to take this chance to review one of the amazing silks from Deviance. They are one of the best fantasy/role play outfitters on the market, they come at a price but they are truly beautiful. This one is 'Enchantress'
The textures are beautiful and it fits in all the right places. There is a choice of a few different looks for the detail on the jewels around the hips and it comes with resizing menu.
I rate these beautiful, slinky silks so get yourself to their store and grab yourself something sexy.
