The Importance of Utilizing Market Place

Second Life's marketplace is an amazing place to find new items of a wide variety. Utilizing Market Place can help you find new creators, as well as enable you to personalize and tweak your look. There are a great number of creators that offer promotional items, as well as freebies on the marketplace. It's definitely worth the time to look and check some of them out.

Why is this a good thing? You can save money. You can find some unique and rather fascinating shops. You can be introduced to knew concepts in style. And you can continue modifying your second life, tweaking yourself into your personal ideal avatar.

Building Avatar Appearance : HAIR

Hair is an element of the SL avatar that many people are very picky about. There's a good reason for this. Hair is a very noticeable element of an avatar. People will create an opinion about you by your hair. First impressions and all that jazz.

So what kinds of hair are there in sl? On the most part there is sculpted, flexie, and mesh hair. Each style has it's pro's and cons. And each one can be appealing for different reasons.  You can pick a hair that speaks about what your avatar is, or let it be a way to express you're ideas.

Sculpted hair, or hair that is constructed from multiple prims is not always going to look the best. Many examples of hair like this can be seen in the old SL libraries. This hair frequently does not move, which makes this hair type the one that is most likely to seem as though it is going extinct soon. It is good for photo's and for creating a distinct style though.

Flexie hair, is very common now. It's the hair that we see that flows and moves when an avatar walks around or dances. The hair has a type of give and bounce, giving it an almost realistic feel. Flexie hair has a tendency to go through an avatar when it moves though, meaning although it looks and flows nice, there are times when it can look surreal.

Mesh hair, is newer. It is a work in progress, but many people have a lot of nice things to say about it. It moves with your avatar, so there is no "through" where the hair might bounces through your avatar. BUT mesh hair doesn't bounce the same way as the flexie hair does. It has a tendency to look as though it is sticking to your body.

Anyway, those are some of the types of hair to consider. The next thing you want to decide, is what color and style you'd like. These factors will play a part in deciding what is going to work best for your avatar. What I would recommend, no matter what style you are thinking of selecting, try out a demo first. Make sure that you know for sure if the hair will fill and act the way that you are hoping. Short or long it doesn't matter, as long as you are happy with your look.

An Alpha Relationship

Am very sorry that the past month has been a bit sparse. Reality hasn't been kind, and there hasn't been a lot to write 'home' about. But I did recently finish reading a very good book. No, not a Shades of Grey one (the next two of those are still on the to read list). But the book I read did explore in its own ways the way a pack works, as well as the idea of there being an Alpha personality as the leader of a group.

First of all I acquired this book for free, I think from the nook book website. That said it isn't something that is going to be coming up on the best seller list soon. But if you're looking for a good piece to read and kill some time, I recommend it. There are a few mistakes in the formatting, as well as a few errors in words and name use. But they aren't enough to detract from the overall storyline.

Most of the story revolves around a pair of characters named Elise and Kane. Through some alliance type action they're led to a relationship neither of them had planned.There's also mystery, intrigue, and a lot of interesting plot twists. But WHY am I posting here about it? That's the question that I'm sure a lot of you are asking.

The concept of having an Alpha Male in a group is what brings this story into our realm of examination. When people are looking at people as being dominant in a relationship or social situation, certain types do take point and lead. So it was nice to read this book because we're all looking for someone to watch over us sometimes.

Why did I enjoy this book? It was a mystery with a nice feel to it. There as a lot of instances that showed that the writer had thought about how people in a pack would interact. It was fascinating, and the romantic elements weren't horrible either. In any case enough babbling out of me, I'm going to leave you with a rather amusing definition of Alpha Male. The term 'Alpha Male' can be defined in both a classical and modern sense. The classical definition derives from the animal kingdom and represents a physical form of dominance over other males. The alpha male lion, for example, claims sexual rights to all females, fights off other male lions to enforce it, eats first after every hunt and dominates a vast territory of land for hunting rights. In a modern/human sense, younger males (teens, early 20s) will subscribe to the classical form. Like a lion, they will often be the strongest, most intimidating, hit on all of the women beta males want, are usually the first to have new sexual experiences and often dominate a set territory in their 'hunt' for new women, such as local nightclub scenes. Older alpha males, however, will evolve the classical traits of strength, intimidation and dominance beyond the physical by gaining power over men through their very means of living and professional reputation. A powerful business executive, for example, will hire, promote, demote and fire others according to how well they serve his own interests. Rock stars, famous actors and other individuals of 'power' hold very similar capabilities over others in their respective professions. Younger alpha males who cannot mature into the modern form will usually cling to the classical form of alpha-maleness for as long as possible.

Second Life has been a myriad of ups and downs this past year. We've seen places and people we love, come and go, as well as change. We've come to know more about each other and various topics. That is the nature of Second Life. It is a community and world that is always in flux. I want to thank you all for making this past year so amazing. I am looking forward to an even more amazing and fun filled New Year. There are so many events and things I will remember from this year, some of which I hope repeat themselves in the future.
